haikus & freeform, pt 3

airplane observing
she’s fidgeting, editing
photos and hiding

=

fire without kindle
overriding, freefalling
intoxicating

dueling and dancing
forest felines circling around
feeling, sensing, aware

sweat-soaked saccharine
after sex spirit seance
astral projecting

=

i’m a spring salmon swimming upstream
i’m the fresh-from-hibernating grizzly waiting for a taste
i’m the lone wolf still slipping by, still seeking solitude
i’m the evergreen that planted roots
i’m the pineneedles that form your blanket
i’m your blanket that’s held too tight on some nights
i’m the roots that branched out and grew
i’m the roots that stepped into the stream for a taste of lifewater
and i continued to grow
and i’m the evergreen that planted roots and i’m the roots that kept growing

you’re your own ecosystem, you’re your own home
you’re a universe with it’s own pull and constellations
you’re the territory that’s uncharted, the road that is less traveled
you’re the mountain peak that can’t be ascended
you’re the siren song calling them back for more
you’re the winter wind burn on skin
you’re the warmth of still-summer beach breeze
you’re the salt that seasons the food and stings the eyes and burns my wounds
you’re shiva and shakti, tearing through like Vishnu
and it’s a gift to miss you
and it’s a blessing to feel new
